There is something uniquely beautiful about opening a new book. The pages have not yet been touched. These new leaflet sheets smell new and the binding is utterly crisp – not bent and dilapidated. There is anticipation in reading page one – for the story is only beginning and there are so many adventures ahead to be experienced by the eyes and emotions of the reader.
But nothing can beat the enjoyment of reading the book and experiencing the excitement, surprise, twists and turns of the story lines. Novels can take you from enchanted forests to barren kingdoms. They can make you shed tears of joy, as well as, tears of sorrow. That worn binding is priceless for it conveys a journey.
Have you ever thought about your life as a novel that God is writing? Sometimes it is hard to truly imagine that concept. Yet, how beautiful that our lives are being written by the supreme poet laureate of storytellers!
And, his story for our lives does not end in a tragedy – with those who have committed their lives to the good fight being destroyed or dismayed. No, it ends in pure joy – victory. Sure, there may be twists and turns – ultimately the things that build character and that backbone. But, the Author of our lives has an ending of sheer delight in store.
In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. – 1 Peter 5:10
When racked with worry and sadness, remember God wins. You may even need to say it aloud. God has already won the battle. He has claimed victory over death and defeat.
Live your own story with grace and dignity. Walk uprightly – knowing that your God holds the pen and is writing you a beautiful happily ever after – for it will be in the comfort of his kingdom, where God reigns victoriously. The sun does not set; but, shines on our faces every hour – fueling our beings with perfect love.
